Our Summer Village!!!!

Summer vacation is upon us. A time for parents that can be frustrating, exciting and filled with anticipation. Many of the parents that I have worked with have had mixed emotions when it comes to summer time. I want to create a place for parents to share the things that have worked for them and what hasn't. This will also be a place to share with others activities that are occurring that are family friendly.

It is a fallacy that you have to spend lots of money to give your children a summer that helps them to grow. Unstructured play helps a child to thrive in many ways. It helps to develop GRIT which has been proven to be a quality that helps to facilitate success in life. It helps children to be resilient with stressors that arise. The stressors can be peer challenges, family challenges, academic challenges, and emotional challenges. When children are allowed to use their imagination, by themselves or with others they discover strengths of problem solving and it increases their imagination and awareness of themselves in community.
